In regards to the recent updates of Toronto’s Restrictions, many are asking if health clinics are still open. Under the Ministry of Health’s regulation in addition to guidance from our regulatory colleges, Citrus Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation and Citrus Pelvic Health Centre will remain OPEN for all of our services during the Toronto Lockdown, effective Monday.

We will continue to be vigilant with our strict infection control procedures to ensure the safety of our patients and staff. For an overview of how we are keeping you safe, you can review our Essential Safety Protocols and COVID-19 Action Plan Below.

Read below for how we are continuing to keep you safe:

1. We have limited the number of people who are allowed in the rehab treatment space at any time

2. All patients will be asked a COVID screening questionnaire before coming into the clinic and once they arrive.

3. A buffer time between appointments has been implemented to thoroughly disinfect each treatment space using our strict protocol and to allow patients to enter and exit the clinic safely.

4. Face masks are mandatory in the clinic. Where necessary, one can be provided.

5. Hand washing and sanitizing are also mandatory upon arrival.

We will continue to offer virtual services to our community to ensure everyone can access the care they need.

We will also continue to monitor for any developments should they arise and keep you informed.

We appreciate your continued support. Do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions during this uncertain time:

We are so excited to be back in clinic! As I’m sure you are aware, times are ever changing and evolving in the presence of COVID-19. To help keep everyone as safe as possible we will be implementing specific safety protocols. Please read prior to your appointment.

The essential safety protocols are the following:

  1. We will be using our virtual platform for all initial assessments as a way to screen who would benefit from an in-clinic appointment.

  2. A COVID-19 pre screening email will be sent you after your appointment has been booked. Treatment can not occur until this is complete. You will also be asked to sign a waiver understanding that you are receiving treatment during COVID-19

  3. If you have ANY symptoms, we can not treat you as we do not have the appropriate PPE for COVID-19 positive patients, we have the appropriate PPE in place for all other patients.

  4. If you have your own, please bring your own procedure mask or face covering. We will not provide treatment without use of a mask. If you do not have your own, one will be provided.

  5. Please bring your own cleansing/baby wipes to use after your session.

  6. Please bring a change of clothes for your treatment session.

  7. Wash or sanitize your hands upon entering.

  8. Make your way up the stairs to the marked chairs. We will be using only 1 or 2 chairs that are distanced apart. These chairs will be cleaned between each and every patient.

  9. Payment will be contactless, we ask that prior to your appointment you provide your credit card and insurance (if available) information to Kate.

  10. Exit using the elevator to the basement level. We are asking all patients to exit using the back door.

  11. Please be patient as everyone is getting used to the new flow of things.

How therapists are keeping you safe:

  • Placed gaps in between each treatment time to clean treatment area.

  • Therapist washed hands for 30 seconds before and after treatments.

  • After washing hands, therapist uses soap and water on treatment table, then mists it with Bioesque

  • After misting table, therapist uses soap and water and Bioesque mist on gym equipment used during the session.

  • Alcohol hand sanitizer is available at each work station after misting table.

  • Therapists are wearing surgical masks and eye protection or face shields.

  • Kate is sanitizing doorknobs throughout the day

A reminder that our rates have returned back to their previous amount and are as follows:

Here is what we’re doing at Citrus to keep everyone safe:

Pre-screening medical and rehabilitation patients. We are not allowing staff or patients with flu-like symptoms, or risk factors for Covid-19, to attend the clinic.

1. We’re calling patients before their treatments to screen for the following risk factors:

  • Out of country travel or air travel in the last 14 days

  • Any respiratory symptoms (cough, sore throat, runny nose, or shortness of breath)

  • Contact with someone who has travelled, has these symptoms, or has been confirmed as having Covid-19.

If you do have flu-like symptoms, it’s important to self-isolate. Don’t go to public places putting others at risk. If you start to develop signs of respiratory distress and require medical attention, you need an acute care centre.

If you are not sick and do not have any of these risk factors, the clinic will be a safe place to continue your treatment plan.

2. Hand washing.

Our physiotherapists and chiropractors already wash their hands between patients. However, we’re requiring all people entering the facility to wash their hands for 20 seconds before beginning treatment. Also, we have lots of alcohol-based hand sanitizer available.

3. Sanitizing treatment surfaces.

We do sanitize the treatment surfaces between patients, already, but we’re taking extra precautions now. We will also be ensuring adequate sanitization of all gym equipment used by clients. The whole facility receives a full cleaning nightly, as well.

4. Private treatment spaces.

As much as possible, we’ll be using our private rooms and keeping patients apart to maintain as much social distance as possible during this time.

We will continue to monitor this situation closely and will provide ongoing updates as needed.

If you would like to discuss any questions with our client experience coordinators or your physiotherapist or chiropractor, we are more than available to talk at the clinic or by phone.

The new Citrus Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation phone number is (416) 847-9112.
